Alan Merris Bell

Artist Statement

Alan Merris Bell is a fine artist from Portland, Oregon. He attended the San Francisco Academy of Art and began his art career in 1971 while serving in the U.S. Army as an illustrator for Infantry Magazine. Alan retired in 2005 after 30 years of service as a Fire Fighter/Paramedic for the City of Portland and is now able to work full time on his art.

In 2006 he founded New High Renaissance to promote realism art. In 2007 Alan curated a New High Renaissance Fine Art Exhibit at the Portland Art Center in Portland, Oregon, a major group art show that featured some of the finest realist artists in America. Alan's artwork has been exhibited in several publications and national art exhibits. Several of Alan's paintings were inspired on medical missions located in remote areas in Honduras and Mexico.
